Same situation with us. Someone gave us a $50 Sephora gift card in September 2023 and we just scratched off the account at the store in December 2023. The store told us there was zero balance. I called the customer service number and they told me the card was used by somebody in Florida. We are in California.

I was given a $100 gift card for my birthday. I only used it once and was excited to use the remaining balance on items I needed. Turns out, my remaining balance was drained out. The person who gifted me the card got it from a fresh new batch of cards from the Sephora stockroom to avoid any fraudulent activity. Yet, it still happened.

We just ran into the same issue. We gave our daughter’s tween friend a gift card as girls this age love Sephora. It was completely disheartening to see her face at the register as she passed them 4 different Sephora card birthday presents that had zero balance due to this scam.
They are basically saying once the giftcard is used they can’t help. I’m now fighting with the scam department in the credit card company. I was on a chat with customer service today about my gift cards!!! My mom bought them from a physical Sephora store, $100 on 3 cards for my birthday and 2/3 of them had a $0 balance!
