When watching the Britbox app, after about 40 minutes the captioning went black. Or, more accurately, the speaking captions were black, and sometimes the sounds captioning were not. I watch Rebus and Touch of Frost which both have episodes longer than 60 minutes and having the caption black out is unwatchable for me.
Second, check the parental controls to make sure the app is blocked. There are two ways you can set parental controls for the BritBox app: Lock TV-MA content under Settings > Parental Controls > TV Rating Locks. You can block access to the BritBox app using an Application Lock. I am an Official Xfinity Employee.

Currently ITVX is not available outside UK and the Britbox content is being removed from Prime, Roku, and the standalone channel/app is being shut down. Will try and update if I find a legitimate method or channel/app becomes available for Roku.

If you wish to access the Britbox channel on your additional Roku streaming devices or televisions, you should launch The Roku Channel application and locate the Britbox app. You may check The Roku Channel application on your Home screen.

I was watching BritBox on Roku and it suddenly stopped working. When I tried to load it again, it had logged me out. I entered my password then I got the message that BritBox is not currently available in your country. I live in the USA. It was available an hour ago, and last year and the year before that. I can load BritBox on my computer ...
We recommend performing the steps below to resolve the issue. 1. Remove the Britbox channel by highlighting it and pressing the star (*) button. 2. Restart the Roku device from Settings > System > System Restart. 3. Install the Britbox channel again.
On the homepage of your BritBox app, click "Sign In" the upper right corner. On the next screen, click on the "Sign In" button again. Enter your email address and password. If you need to reset your password, click here. If prompted to create a new account or subscribe with your Roku account, press 'Cancel'.
Roku Guru. 05-21-2023 08:44 AM. They are the same. The difference is the "for Roku" means you are paying through Roku instead of directly to BritBox. As you noticed, that can sometimes make it difficult or impossible to use a non-Roku device. The only advantage is you don't need to manually log in on Roku devices.
