If your Intel Mac is from approximately 2012 or older you won't be able to download Big Sur from the Mac App Store. Follow the instructions in the video above in post #1. This will allow you to download Big Sur directly from Apple on your older Intel Core 2 Duo system. Will also work on a 1st/2nd/3rd generation Intel Core i based Mac.

I'm on my M2 MacBook Pro trying to download Big Sur (last supported macOS version for the 2013 models) and create a bootable USB, but not finding a way to download Big Sur successfully (App Store Fails) on my M2 model.

I like the dock at the bottom but it would be neat to see if you can implement other aspects of Big Sur like the control center / Notification Center to the right etc. good looking set up and who cares about the name but if you’re pulling inspiration from OSX you can definitely go further than a wallpaper & dock to get that big surrrrr feeling :)
The way I've found is to download the OS from the AppleStore, but we don't have any other Mac just Iphones. There's a way to download it on Iphone and make a bootable usb from windows to work on MAC? Share Add a Comment
Here is another trick. Download a macOS Big Sur dmg file, you can find many online. Mount the disk image and you will see Install macOS Big Sur app in it. Now, open the installation app and start the upgrading process. p.s I found out Big Sur is no long available in my local App Store.
For more than a week now, I am unable to download the update from the Software Update section in the System Preferences, because for some unknown reason it does it in an extremely slow download speed - several KB/s. And the worse part is, after it takes 4 days to download, it fails, so I need to start over.
