Pick up Fire stick remote to control Fire stick. Pick up AVR remote to change volume. Watching Fire stick using Harmony "activity": Press "Watch Fire stick" button (control AVR, TV and stick from the same remote without switching modes) The non-activity way is much, much, much more annoying and complicated.
scandia101 said: Your Tivos aren't even relevant to connecting and using your Amazon Fire Stick. Exactly. This thread is pointless since the FireTV stick and TiVo have nothing to do with each in the OP's context, and funny since the forum ran wild with the idea of using the Stick to stream stuff from TiVo.
Most TVs have more than one HDMI port. You should be able to plug the FireStick into an unused HDMI port. They switch inputs on the TV between the two devices. If you have only 1 HDMI port free, you can get an HDMI switch to allow multiple sources to use the one port.
Just purchased a TivoStream 4k about a week ago. Loving the experience so far as it is a great upgrade over my outdated firestick. Everything is seemingly working flawlessly except for one issue. When I go to change the input on my TV (Westinghouse wd50fx1120) with the Tivo remote, I cannot select which source I would like to view.
After changing to a Fire TV today, the volume and input buttons stopped working. I did remote reset and TiVo reset but still not working. I also replaced batteries with new ones. When I press the TiVo button and TV/Power button simultaneously, red light and amber light alternates quickly. I have two TiVo remotes, and both of them act the same way.
Just got my Amazon Fire Stick 4K (my first Amazon stick) about 30 minutes ago and I already love it WAY better than the TiVo Stream 4K. Advantages versus Stream 4K I've seen already: 1. Dedicated Remote buttons for rew, play/pause, ff that actually work in the video apps I care about (Netflix, Prime Video and HBO NOW).

Then install Google Remote for Android TV on you iOS or Android phone. You'll need your phone to toggle physical remote between mouse and button mode, because Tivo Stream 4K remote doesn't have a play/pause button that is needed to activate mouse mode. Then to return to physical button mode you need to click home button.
Advantages versus Stream 4K I've seen already: 1. Dedicated Remote buttons for rew, play/pause, ff that actually work in the video apps I care about (Netflix, Prime Video and HBO NOW). 2. Much more responsive for pause/play, ff, rew remote presses, especially in Prime Video. 3.
Rebooting the TV only sent me back into FireTV land. The only way I could get out of FireTV and back to Spectrum/TiVo, was to use the TV’s original remote and change the TV’s “Source” setting from ‘HDMI3’ (home of the Firestick) to ‘Charter.’ Does this indicate a faulty Firestick or am I missing something simple in setting this up?
