The name "Puyallup" is an anglicization of the Lushootseed word spuyaləpabš.The name means "people of the bend (at the bottom of the river)," [2] literally s√puy=áləp=abš, from the root √puy̓, 'curve'; the suffix =alap, 'leg or hip'; and the suffix =abš, 'people', [1] and refers to the way that the Puyallup people live on the winding river. Frying Pan (LV-115) is a lightvessel moored at Pier 66a in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. It served at Frying Pan Shoals, off Cape Fear in North Carolina, for over 30 years.
It flows westward along the county line between Pitkin and Eagle County. Below Meredith, it is dammed to form the Ruedi Reservoir. It joins the Roaring Fork below Basalt. A portion of the river's water is diverted to the east side of the continental divide for irrigation and drinking water via the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project.
