    868. May 31, 2010. Amherst, OH. 0. Penske is overpriced like all lease companies. With the exception of warranty work they try to spend as little money per truck. They are a business. When I was a company driver i drove for Aim. Every year service intervals got pushed out without any oil samples.

So you have two options buy truck with -15000 discount which I can guarantee will have problems and you will spend money to fix. Or buy truck at -4000 discount and get 3 months warranty. 3 months is pretty much enough to reveal serious problems especially when you are going to drive as team and cover 6000 miles a week.

Well, no to Penske. They made it very difficult to see and drive the truck. I went with a 2016 t680 with the Paccar MX13. I was originally focusing on the Penske Cascadia trucks because of the DD15 engines. Reviews of the MX13 engine is all over the spectrum; there are so many out there it can’t be too bad.

About two years ago, I took another driver over to penske to pick up a freightliner columbia with out the side fairing and back fairing, decent looking truck with 376,000 on EGR motor. It was a lease to own purchase and he had a decent deal on it $214/wk for 156 weeks. He drove that truck 9 months with no problems.

Take that cash, and buy a truck for $15k so you don't have payments. Plenty of good trucks out there. Penske and Ryder are simply way over priced. When they sell a truck, they detail it, put new caps on the back, replace broken dash pieces, etc. They might offer a 30 or 60 day warranty, but its not worth the price! Over priced!

  8. Penske Used Trucks - Go or No Go? Would you buy one?

    www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/threads/penske-used-trucks-go...

I found a 2016 Cascadia on the Penske used trucks list that looks alright for a first truck. Does anyone have any experience working with them? I want a solid truck to start my business up with but I don't want to lease or buy new. I figure this would give me a $12-1400/payment and a median insurance bill. Those two costs are my immediate ...

  9. Is the Penske used truck warrantee worth anything at all? No.

    www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/threads/is-the-penske-used...

Think about this: When you buy a Penske used truck, the company provides a 15 day warrantee. Those 15 days are useless as you cannot legally put the truck on the road without your 2290 forms being submitted to the government and returned to you...which takes quite a lot more than 15 days.

  11. Penske "Premium" used trucks is a hoax - TruckersReport

Premium is a sales gimmick . It's a used truck. Under the law of most states, for a vehicle to be considered a lemon , the car must 1) have a "substantial defect," covered by warranty, that occurs within a certain time after purchase, and 2) continue to have the defect after a "reasonable number" of repair attempts.
