  3. Why does my windows defender offline scans stop at 91%, and is it...

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/why-does-my-windows-defender...

Answer. quietman7. Volunteer Moderator. Replied on January 1, 2024. Report abuse. Sometimes during a Microsoft Defender Offline scan, it may appear that the scan stalled at 91%, 92%, 93%. The “Percent complete” progress bar/indicator is not always accurate so you need to check the actual log which will show if the scan completed.

  4. defender scan option missing in windows 11 - Microsoft Community

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/defender-scan-option-missing-in...

Thanks for the reply. I tried all options Repair Reset Uninstall and did a restart after each option. Still no scan option in Windows Defender. Unless it is somewhere else as it is not where it used to be. Do you have defender on a pc to see where it is located and scan option is available. I have always just used Defender for my desk top security.

Hi, As the title suggests, after 1-2 minutes of running full scan, the CPU usage spikes up and uses up all the remaining CPU. I don't remember this happening with previous full scans. (at most used up 40-50% CPU) I do have Malwarebyte installed and did a full scan (root-kit and all) and nothing showed up. I have also used powershell command ...

  6. How do I stop Windows Defender running unwanted scan?

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-stop-windows-defender...

Windows Defender is set up to protect you, but if your computer is running too slowly causing it to be annoying, you can go into your Settings and click on Security. Then, choose when to let Defender do a scan, or if it even does a scan at all. (You can turn off automatic scans.)

  7. Windows Defender Offline asking for BitLocker Key

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-defender-offline-asking...

If you have enabled BitLocker by yourself and have the recovery key, since Windows Defender Offline makes your computer boot in a "non-regular" way, the system will not automatically unlock it. You can safely input the recovery key there. Once the scan finishes and you boot into the system normally, it should not ask for the key anymore.

It includes a decent Antivirus scanner thats more robust and uses heuristics and the cloud to detect and remove malicious code. There is also a built in offline scanner you can use to scan Windows outside of the installation. 9. Antivirus position - Windows 11 S Mode - Microsoft Community

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/antivirus-position-windows-11-s...

In Windows 11 in S Mode, Defender runs in the background and protects your PC, there is no method to perform manual scans, I think they do that because in S Mode, you can only install verified apps from the Microsoft Store, and therefore your PC is more secure, because 3rd party software cannot be installed in S Mode. You can if you feel it is ...

  11. How do I disable security scan on MS edge? - Microsoft Community

    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/how-do-i-disable-security...

Just because you disable Smartscreen doesn't mean you've disabled your antivirus software from scanning downloads. Smartscreen is a pseudo-webbased service that checks your download against lists. So yes, you unwisely have it turned off. What you see scanning the download is the browser tied in with your antivirus software.
