Knock ( Irish: An Cnoc, meaning The Hill – but now more generally known in Irish as Cnoc Mhuire, "Hill of (the Virgin) Mary") [2] is a village in County Mayo, Ireland . Knock is also a civil parish in the ancient barony of Costello . It is notable as the location of Knock Shrine - a Marian shrine and place of pilgrimage.
County Wexford was the most important area in which the Irish Rebellion of 1798 was fought, during which significant battles occurred at The Battle of Oulart Hill during the 1798 rebellion. Vinegar Hill (Enniscorthy) and New Ross. The famous ballad "Boolavogue" was written in remembrance of the Wexford Rising.
