The thing about Rage 2 that is exceptionally disappointing as a fan of that franchise was the developers grossly misunderstood what the first game was. A lot of people assumed it was an 'open world' game and have a tendency to bash it for being particularly bland.

Played Rage 2 in 2021 on Xbox series S. The combat in Rage is amazing, and graphics look good, at times borderline great. However, for me, the downsides are a dead feeling world. Weird rant for a post-apocalyptic game, but it’s more about the game feeling hollow. Characters aren’t memorable or likeable.
A fun, engaging world. GameSpace - 7.5 / 10. Rage 2 is a great game for the right reasons. If you're looking for a game with a phenomenal story, you're in the wrong place. The story is boring to me, and rather short at 13 hours of leisurely gameplay. At the very least it doesn't drop off the planet like Rage did.
I never hated a game and company as much as when I got that cliffhanger ending out of nowhere in Rage 1. There wasn't even a climax. Never again id. The first game was laughingly short and could be beaten in less than 5 hours on the hardest difficulty if you knew what you were doing. But where Rage 1 was strong at was portraying a post apocalyptic world with the illusion of going through a decayed city in one of the missions. However in Rage 2, the creative atompshere is just lacking.
Adding Microsoft as another overseer of the IP means that they might be less likely to award a contract for an outside studio like Avalanche to work on it. That said, I would love to see RAGE 3 done "in house" by another Microsoft-owned studio. A couple come to mind that could do the right mix of gunplay and open-world quests/story missions.
Pistol with fat boys will help you through the first few areas in the game, but the scope when possible. Helps at the Dam. Authority is pretty easy, especially with Eectro rounds and Authority 2x rounds for their Assault Rifle. Car Races are pretty hard too. Get the second Defib as quick as possible, helps so much. 2.
