  2. Receivers compatible with Bose 901 speakers... - AVS Forum

The 901 required TAPE LOOP, is DH190's INPUT 4 (manual page 15), hook up your EQ there. p.s.: With INPUT 4, I was expecting to see a TAPE/MD/MONITOR button, but I don't see any, am stumped. If the DH190 doesn't work, you can do Preamp+Power Amp in lieu of a receiver and insert the EQ between the Pre and the Amp will work for sure.

  3. Which Receiver for Bose 901 Speakers? - AVS Forum

The 901 speaker system is in one word, outstanding. The little Bose cube speakers are what is over priced. Bose floor speakers, like your 901's, are excellent speakers and do not need marketing hype. The 901's are what got Bose where they are, not marketing. I tell you this from first hand experience.

My purchase consisted of the Bose 901 III speakers, which I lusted over since the day the 901 I was released. One of my friends purchased the AR3a speakers. There were a mix of other combinations from others, but being familiar with the AR4a speakers I already owned, I was particularly interested in the AR3a speakers.

The Bose 901 Speakers are fantastic speakers. True there are many other good speakers too. Yes, the Bose 901s do require a special EQ. The EQ is not hard to hook up but does require a Pre-In/Out or a Tape Monitor. Most older recerivers have these but many newer ones do not. The best newer ones do and you can find newer receivers that have them.

  6. Bose 901 speaker/equalizer compatability - AVS Forum

If I remember the info I got at the Bose tech school in the 70's, the eq has a plus or minus 18db range. This would be a good time to sell the 901's and get new speakers. Dennis.

  7. setting up home theatre using Bose 901s w/the equalizer

    www.avsforum.com/threads/setting-up-home-theatre-using...

Sorry to bump an old thread, however I have recently purchased set of Bose 901 series VI speakers (and EQ) and I want to incorporate them into my current 5.1 home theatre set up (cue Bose hatred). My current receiver is a Pioneer VSX-917V, and after a lot of internet research I think I will buy the Yamaha R-S700 to essentially run as the 'pre ...

It would take me an inordinate amount of time to copy/paste it all here so to save my sanity I am sharing the link to the review on my site: Bose 901 Series V ...

  9. what's the best amp for bose 901s? - AVS Forum

    www.avsforum.com/threads/whats-the-best-amp-for-bose-901s...

Initially using a Kenwood intergrated amp (Rated ~130 WPC) and a Dynaco equalizer (as well as the Bose EQ). That was plenty of power at darned loud levels. I went to a 100 WPC AVR and could attain the same volumes without problems. If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough – Albert Einstein.

  10. Connect Bose 901 Series II speakers to Denon AVR-2310CI...

    www.avsforum.com/threads/connect-bose-901-series-ii...

I inherited a Denon AVR-2310CI receiver and am trying to figure out how to connect my Bose 901 Series II speakers to it, specifically the Bose equalizer. I can connect the equalizer’s inputs to the VCR analog outputs, and the equalizer’s outputs to the VCR analog inputs. But the receiver has no “VCR Monitor” function.

  11. What happened to Bose home audio? - AVS Forum

    www.avsforum.com/threads/what-happened-to-bose-home-audio...

I've been away from high end home audio for 35-40 years and have a lot of catching up to do. When I was heavily into home audio in the '70s Bose was a highly regarded line of speakers. Especially the 901s. The various versions of the 901, 601, 501, and 301 were very popular. By about 1980 I was out of the high end home audio hobby and when I ...
