I had purchased Viddly way back, and after seeing this thread, wiped it, virus scanned, etc, but my computer was still running poorly -strangely slugglishly. So I finally just did a complete windows reinstall and it's amazing how different the computer feels.
The only video downloader working has been downloading a 13 min video for over 20 min and still hasn't completed the download. Did this update remove video downloaders/YouTube downloaders like Chrome does.
And why all existing add-ons don't just use YouTube-dl? Extensions can no longer start other applications directly. However there is a way to achieve that through native messaging, which "Open With" makes use of (see above). Read more about that here.
Nice timing. My Microsoft Security Essentials just started hating my Viddly Youtube Downloader. Might as well use yours now.
So for a long time I used this software called " viddly " which was very simple and useful. But then they started to offer an ad-free experience via using your computer's resources which was quite fishy (pop-up). I opted out and kept using it with ads but now, after their latest hotfix, Windows defender flags the app as "unwanted" and swiftly offers to remove it.

Today I open jdownloader and try to download any youtube link and it seems to take 10mins to get 1 link, but when you try to download them they don't work either. It stays in "connecting" infinitely, crawling also seems to do the same.
