Unclaimed property is cash and other items of value that have been reported to the Department of Treasury because they have gone unclaimed by the owner beyond a dormancy period. Michigan's Unclaimed Property Act requires that unclaimed property be turned over to the Department so we can return it to its rightful owners/heirs.

Michigan's Uniform Unclaimed Property Act, Public Act 29 of 1995, as amended, requires businesses and government entities to report and remit to the Michigan Department of Treasury abandoned and unclaimed property belonging to owners whose last known address is in Michigan.
