    The Synapse is (IMO) much more bike than the Ribble. It is designed to be ridden both fast and long, on any terrain. Cannondale puts a lot of research into its designs. Ribble buys frames on the open market, which means you are getting a generic frame, maybe a copy of last year's or two years ago's hot frame.

    There was a velonews article a couple of years ago where somebody had melted an enve rim due to it being right on the exhaust for a while. That exhaust does get very hot. Enve now has a warning on their website about this very thing. I just got a new trailer hitch bike mount and the position if the exhaust was the first thing I checked.

    It's usually not too difficult to spread the stays apart by hand and squeeze the wider hub in each time you install the wheel when you're only talking a few millimeters, like from 126mm to 130mm.
