[ 5] It lies in southeastern Ohio, in the Appalachian Plateau of the Appalachian Mountains about 75 miles (121 km) east of Columbus and approximately 124 miles (200 km) south of Cleveland. The population was 10,089 at the 2020 census.
The old Guernsey County courthouse. Guernsey County was formed in 1810 and the county constructed its courthouse on Public Square in Cambridge. The courthouse was a Greek Revival style building with red brick facade. Two large double doors were located at the north and south ends and long rectangular windows with dark shutters lined the sides.
