Dollar is owned by The Hertz Corporation , along with other agencies including Hertz Rent A Car , Firefly Car Rental and Thrifty Car Rental .
Formerly known as Dollar A Day Rent A Car, Dollar Rent A Car Systems, Inc. was founded by Henry J. Caruso in Los Angeles, California in 1965.
