Once you start making routes longer, it costs more to operate. The Auto Train is in a sort of “sweet spot” in terms of equipment requirements, crew costs, travel time (for passengers, it’s basically board, lounge, eat, sleep, wake up, arrive), etc. You’re not likely to find that on any other single route in the US.

However, Amtrak train numbers have no meaning in railroad operations and confer no authority to occupy track, so they do not have to change and they don't.

If you mean a Washington DC to Los Angeles Auto Train, the shortest route using existing Amtrak routes would be that of the Capitol Limited to Chicago and Southwest Chief to Los Angeles, and at existing schedules, it is 61 hours running time (excluding the layover in Chicago, just the running time).
