Perfectly normal and very annoying - no of us have any idea why Amazon allow this - it’s annoying for us as you’ve encountered and equally annoying for the customer who most of the time have no idea their payment details are not longer valid and ignore Amazon’s automated ‘please update your payment method’ messages.

Hi everyone, I have an unusually large number of orders FBA in Pending mode (76). Usually, I only have say 15 or so and I put that down to payments being processed. Does anyone know why this may be happening please.
I sent in 4 identical units that sold the same day they arrived in a FC, which was 29th of November. All four have been Pending orders since. Seems rather strange, but there is zero stock now of this item and an ideal time for them to be returned to my inventory as available. How long does Amazon leave FBA orders as Pending before cancelling them?.
Orders in pending status indicate an issue with the customer’s payment method/card. Those orders are not in a shippable status because they have not been confirmed and should not be shipped, even if the buyer contacts you directly. Pending orders cannot be cancelled manually by a seller or by Amazon.
Pending orders are probably one of the most annoying features of amazon. Once they are pending over a day, most orders are cancelled or get to the alloted time period before they lapse. Would be much better to give the seller more control and be able to cancel pending orders manually after 24 hours if they wished to do so. Most pending orders ...
This surely shows that amazon are able to cancel orders where the price is incorrectly advertised, as they have done it to me! (I’ve explained this in an amazon seller support case that clearly this is possible - awaiting response) If anyone has any advice or experience with this issue, would be much appreciated. 47 views.
Pending orders are generally just payments that haven’t cleared, normally a payment clears within an hour, sometimes it can take 5 days for security checks… or longer if there’s an actual problem with the payment method.
When we investigate it, all of the orders with this issue are showing as ‘Payment Pending’. We also seem to have about 300 orders in the last couple of weeks showing this status!! Amazon advises us that the customer’s need to contact their support team, but a few customers have mentioned that Amazon are fielding the customers back to us?!
