The Bay Area speaker manufacturer Harbinger, not to be confused with the current Guitar Center "house brand" Harbinger used XLR connectors on most of their small speakers in the 1970s. There are still dozens of their model 524 floor wedges in use hereabouts.

I have a Carvin power amp and speakers (vintage mid-'90s) that came with 1/4" and XLR connectors. The XLRs are opposite sex: female from the amp and male at the speaker. I also still have the Carvin 16awg speaker cables with XLR ends.

  5. Mount XLR in cast base stand? - ProSoundWeb

The cable inside the stand would need to be a coiled cable to deal with extending, making sure it's small enough to fit in the top portion of the stand. What benefit does having the connector visible on the outside of the base offer? If you add the cable inside the pole and make the connection under the stand the result is an even cleaner setup.

And XLR cables are used for more than hooking up microphones. Very often they are used to hook pieces of electronics together-greatly enhancing the possibility of problems. I guess that was long as every piece of gear in the system is properly designed not to have pin 1 problems, then you "might" be OK.

  9. Magnets and XLR - ProSoundWeb

I am intending to use these to fasten the cables to the doorways. I believe this would look neater and be faster in and out. The signal will be line level, going to an Anchor 1000 powered monitor. This has XLR line or mic input. If I get a hum I will insert a Radial AV1 direct box. Will the magnets affect the signal in the XLR cable.

  11. Internal drum mic systems??? - ProSoundWeb

    forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php?topic=181419.0

If installed correctly, the mic kit shouldn't have a significant impact in the actual sound of the drum kit, so you always still have the option of external mics, should you so desire. In fact, I'd certainly test the internal mics against the external kit so you can do a true side by side comparison and see how different it really sounds. Logged.
