Hi, I'm looking for English subtitles for the 2014 Japanese live action movie of Ao Oni. I had an English version, but I downloaded a higher quality video without checking the subtitle language and deleted the old one. The new file only has Chinese subtitles.

After you donwload the sub the download window stays open thus letting you check whether the downloaded subtitle is the one you are looking for. Also, subtitles can be rated, so if you see a 5/5 one, 99% chance you wont have any issues with it. I highly suggest it, been using it since years.
Place the folder “auto-sub-retimer” in the same directory of your video file and the subtitles you want to sync. Enter in the auto-sub-retimer folder and click on “run me”. Follow the steps prompted. When asked in the third steep for a default value, just leave it empty.
I feel stupid recommending this as I have only just installed it - yet to configure it, but if you use Sonarr/Radarr, you can use Bazarr which will look at both Sonarr and Radarr's media content and pull in subtitles from a vast list of subtitle groups, Opensubtitles being one of them
The best approach might be to use Google (or any good search engine) to search for [movie name] srt. If, for example, you have downloaded Iron Man, then search for "Iron Man srt" - navigate to a subtitles website, then find the language you want (English, presumably) and look for the file name which best matches the copy of the movie you have ...

OpenSubtitles does have Forced Subtitles, though admittedly they tend to be hard to distinguish by eye without looking closely, but under the file/scene name it'll say (FORCED) at the end and it'll have a globe icon next to the movie name. Drag your movie into the tool as well as your two separate subtitle files. For your forced subtitles, select the 2nd sub that you added and in the Properties on the right where it says "Forced track flag", select "yes." Now just set your destination folder and click "Start multiplexing" at the bottom and voila!
