  2. A work in progress. Modifying a Condor HBC camp knife

    bushcraftusa.com/forum/threads/a-work-in-progress-modifying-a-condor-hbc-camp...

I've been wanting a Hudson Bay Co camp knife. Or I should say a more authentic HBC knife, but I haven't been wanting to pay the 500 bucks some makers are asking. And someone keeps scarfing up @Caleb Cox 's offerings. Caleb told me he sees none in the near future and suggested I modify the Condor I have.

Central Pa. Jun 24, 2015. #7. This is from the Hudson's Bay Company website: Yes. Hbc point blankets are made of 100% wool and are pre-shrunk as part of the manufacturing process. So you can hand wash your blanket in a gentle detergent like Zero or Woollite. The trick is in the drying.

Oct 31, 2023. #1. I first found this Bushcraft USA while I was looking at different point blankets. There was a thread that suggested that the "Original Witney Point Blanket" label was from the 1940's. I have since purchased a couple with this Early's Witney Point Blanket label, which I am guessing is between the 1940's and the 1960's or after.

Location. MN. Aug 25, 2017. #24. I have had several people ask if I mind them posting pictures of the mods they have done to their Condor Hudson Bay knives in this thread. I think that would be cool, so I have changed the title and put a note at the top of my first post asking people to post their mods here if they want to. So if you have some ...

    28. Location. Washington. May 17, 2011. #1. There is a local that is selling his Early's Witney 4 Point blanket for $110 and I was wondering how it compared to a genuine Hudson Bay or a surplus blanket. I was wondering if anyone had either one of the point blankets and how you like them? I do have two 100% wool Italian surplus blankets that are ...

First: the Bushcraft Spain 100% spanish Merino Wool blanket. This is my 6 point HBC blanket: Here is the BS loft/thickness compared to the HBC: imo, the spanish blanket is superior in warmth, at a similar weight. I really like the look as well, the ends of the spanish blanket are tied and carded by hand too.

Sadly yes when anything fetches a decent price, it gets knock offs and fakes. Point Blankets are no different. Now some are just miss understanding by inexperienced buyers, point blanket does not mean HBC. There are a lot of different companies making or have made point blankets. Some companies though did and do fake HBC tags.

  11. Recreating an authentic fur trade blanket - Bushcraft USA Forums

    bushcraftusa.com/forum/threads/recreating-an-authentic-fur-trade-blanket.364549

So, I am trying to figure out the specs for a "fur trade authentic" blanket that one of the artisans could create. It doesn't have to be an HBC replica, as long as it is documentable to the Rocky Mountains before 1840. Addressing the issues one at a time. Just my own opinion again. I like the fur trade era, too, especially the time choice, you ...
