xCloud on Web = RainWay (third party) xCloud on Native windows, android, consoles = in-house tech. xCloud on web generally has better image quality /fidelity especially with Clarity Boost on Edge browser on PC. xCloud Native generally has lower Latencies, thus less input lag.
Stadia works great in my area but xcloud doesn’t not. (Northern California). I have no problem playing stadia on an iPad or on a Mac, yet xcloud is laggy, pixelated or freezes up. I wish it would work better so I could switch over.
It's curious since I never experienced screen tearing while playing xCloud using the browser. This used to happen a lot using the Xbox app on PC though, but on browser the image used to be blurrier. Also never experienced that green screen you mentioned. By the way, I'm from Brazil and I use a 250MB fiber connection.
But I gave XCloud another shot and played destiny 2 yesterday and it felt closer to stadia, but not exact. The visual compression is still much better on Stadia though. I will continue to use XCloud because Gamepass Ultimate is something I already pay for and use since I play on Xbox and PC.
We also know xCloud uses Kubernetes containers to run the games inside but I don't think they're using Distributed Computing where one container can borrow CPU cycles from another instance for temporary spikes. They will likely use Distributed Computing for the Cloud Native games instead.
hm, yeah, I was thinking about whether users who want to stream xcloud only (e.g. ultimate users w/o console) have option to activate their purchase in any way as that is for some reason only possible by running remote streaming at least once. not sure why, seems like lost opportunity. unless there is some tech explanation. might be worth checking with dev at r/xbplay
Yeah that's definitely can be done, actually I am using both xCloud and Stadia from and unsupport county and it's running amazing like 99.9% of the time. I do agree with other comments, you should test before choosing a VPN, it took me like 3 until I found one that works for me.
XCloud (Microsoft just calls it XBox Cloud Gaming Beta now) worked earlier too from India but poorly and not worth posting about, but finally sharing the steps here today because a Redditor on r/xcloud suddenly shared something which worked a little bit like magic (my post so my whatever words I wish to use) and made the experience a lot better ...
Streaming devices usually use ARM64 chips that are designed for 4k Media like Netflix, Disney+, HBO etc. and should have no issues with the xCloud video stream. So while the Stream Box chip wouldn't be as powerful as M1s or PC hardware, it having Xbox OS, Wireless Protocol, DLI, should be enough to provide a better experience than most devices ...
