  2. Signs of a bad clutch? - Kawasaki World

17,300 miles on a clutch? i believe (although maybe eaten alive for the comment) that the zx-12 clutch is notoriously shit. just not up to contolling the enormous power of the engine. many owners seem to recomend the muzzy replacement - probably for very good reasons.

The stock clutch with stock springs is good on a stock motor. The heavier springs grab more at slow speeds. My red bike with lockup clutch has very light springs and I can pull away very smoothly from 1500 rpm no judder. My silver A1 has a heavy clutch - ive not looked inside it yet since I bought it a few months back. It snatches bad too at ...

take the clutch pack out, the stack height is the total height for steels and frictions. hold the pile in one hand, give it a bit of a squeeze, and put a set of calipers on it. hope for between 56.8mm to 57.6mm (try for the upper 2/3 of that range if you are changing it)

We all get a kit from Muzzy for about $300 which comes with the drilled Hub. Even the 500 HP Turbo bikes use the "STOCK" Kawasaki parts! teh springs they use the ZX6R or some after market!

The ZX12 owners manual makes no reference to when to release the shifter, however I remembered reading about this technique in my son's KX65 manual - sure enough - QUOTE: "To shift up to the next gear, pull in the clutch lever, lift the shift pedal with your toes, gently release the clutch lever, and then release the shift pedal".

Second, 100mph doesn't feel fast when you pass people. My question is, I noticed that when I rolled hard on the throttle on the on ramp, I had some pretty bad clutch slippage, so is it cooked and I should just replace it? Or is it common when you're riding hard from light to light? Also one more, which brand of replacement clutch kit is best? TL;DR

With Mad Mals zx-11 he hit it hard on the freeway on ramp and felt it go down on power real bad. Like a hit. He knew something bad happened and pulled the clutch in and hit the kill switch. When we pulled the pan the debris from the bearing (yep, it was #3) was unmistakeable. Lots of not so pretty bronze and copper bits all over the intake screen.

  10. 2002 zx9r only starts in neutral. Normal? How to fix?

    www.kawasakiworld.com/threads/2002-zx9r-only-starts-in-neutral-normal-how-to...

To me it seems that if it only starts in neutral WITH the clutch out, then the switch is working. If it were broken it would not matter where the lever was. The 02 and 03 models are not wired the same as the 98-99 and 00-01 models so those that say "mine starts in gear" but have a 2001 model, it is not helping my situation with a 2002.

I believe once you add the steel plates and fibers it makes less, and after everything is buttoned up and full with oil you shouldn't hear anything. Make sure you the right height after the fibers and steel ...
