Yes you have to technically reset it twice to protect the domain if someone steals the hash for krbtgt account, but you have to do it in steps and make sure that all writable domain controllers in that domain get the first reset before you do the 2:nd reset - otherwise the replication will break.

    Now I've having an issue with a different account. Incident ID NT9VN5TC. I added this account to the Authenticator app and it validated without a problem.     The cert should be in former, Certificates (Local Computer) > Personal > Certificates. Make sure you choose Computer Account when you use the Certicates mmc snap-in.     The documentation for DsServerRegisterSpn states the service does require a log on as LocalSystem, but I observed that SQL server doesn't seem to have this issue on the older OS's and successfully registers the following: MSSQLSvc/tim.osisoft.int:1433 even if the SQL server's log on is NetworkServices.
