Wood is a heterogeneous, hygroscopic, cellularand anisotropic(or more specifically, orthotropic) material. It consists of cells, and the cell walls are composed of micro-fibrils of cellulose(40–50%) and hemicellulose(15–25%) impregnated with lignin(15–30%).
Hardwood. Hardwood is wood from angiosperm trees. These are usually found in broad-leaved temperate and tropical forests. [ 1] In temperate and boreal latitudes they are mostly deciduous, but in tropics and subtropics mostly evergreen. Hardwood (which comes from angiosperm trees) contrasts with softwood (which is from gymnosperm trees).
Mahogany. Mahogany is a straight- grained, reddish-brown timber of three tropical hardwood species of the genus Swietenia, indigenous to the Americas [ 1] and part of the pantropical chinaberry family, Meliaceae. Mahogany is used commercially for a wide variety of goods, due to its coloring and durable nature.
Softwood is wood from gymnosperm trees such as pines and spruces. Softwoods are not necessarily softer than hardwoods. Teak is a large deciduous tree up to 40 m (131 ft) tall with grey to greyish-brown branches, known for its high-quality wood. Its leaves are ovate-elliptic to ovate, 15–45 cm (5.9–17.7 in) long by 8–23 cm (3.1–9.1 in) wide, and are held on robust petioles which are 2–4 cm (0.8–1.6 in) long. Leaf margins are entire.
