Being safe or not. Two very distinct things. Numerous roms have known checksums and can be verified.
emulatorgames.net is safe. I know this post was a year ago, but yes it is safe. it also has one of the best game libraries. I agree, however the site seems to be poorly managed or abandoned; there really hasn’t been any new roms or updates from the team behind the site.
I want to know your favorite games to emulate and discover more experiences to use on my deck. First ones I loaded up was the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 collections (PS3). Was able to dump Smash Bros Ultimate from my switch and finally got Infamous 2 (also PS3) running VERY well.

SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics on Steam. Order Intellivision ROMs. Even new games are developed for old platforms and sold.

Rom Files cannot be infected with viruses. Each site is unique, but over time there are tricks to figure out how to get the rom files. I recommend installing Universal Bypass, it works very well. Alot of times the Giant download button is an ad that will try to get you to download an exe file. Watch out for that.
