I booked a roomette on both trains. I received an email from Amtrak asking me if I wanted to bid for an upgrade to a bedroom. The Empire Builder upgrade was $295 for the least expensive bid. The Capitol Limited upgrade was $70 for the least expensive bid.
Feb 21, 2020. #1. We were passengers on auto train on February 13 from Lorton to Sanford. We have taken the train for over 10 years annually now. With the changes to coach passengers this will probably be our last. You cannot get tea or coffee without paying and lining up with all the passengers trying to buy their dinner.

We are frequent travelers on the AT traveling back and forth to our homes in Thomasville and Harpers Ferry (HFY). This would mark our eighth AT trip since November 2009.
