I saw that History Channel is included with Roku. When I went to add it, I got the activation code, entered it, but in the last steps, I needed a TV Provider. I no longer have a TV provider so could not add history which is disappointing. When I setup Roku I did have a TV Provider (Xfinity) but I cancelled Xfinity a couple months ago.
The History Channel will not start. I have left feedback every time, but that is probably just a waste of time. I have tried removing the History channel, restarting the Roku and then re-installing the History Channel, but no change.
I just returned from a two-week vacation and all mentions of True History are gone from my Roku, including "Recently Viewed". Where did it go? I enjoy good history lectures and TH was one of my favorites on the Roku Channel.
Im so mad ! Of all the Reality junk clogging up the Live Tv channels, they get rid of the one decent & educational channel. True History (TH) prorgams are from The Great Courses. GCs streaming version is called "Wondrium" but requires $ subscription. See if your local library supports "Kanopy". Its free & includes many of these lecture series.
I was watching a 45 min show on the History Channel and was outraged by the amount of ads. There were approximately 30 ads and disruptive interactive ads. After each set of ads, the channel would go back to the show heading and had to push "resume" to continue watching. Sorry to say that I removed this channel from my Home screen.
The History channel app is a TV Everywhere app. Full access is linked to having a matching cable/satellite/streaming TV subscription. Did you once have cable/satellite TV and had it linked? Those links eventually expire. This has nothing to do with Roku. It's the provider limited access to those who pay.

Please be aware that the History channel is an authenticated channel that requires a TV or cable subscription to access content on the channel. If you do not have a TV or cable subscription plan that allows you to access History, you will be unable to watch content on that channel.
In going thru the Roku main menu using the History and A&E apps. The logo loads then a quick flash of a History channel, then the screen goes back to the Roku main menu. Ive reloaded the apps, restart the Roku device, reconnect the network. The problem continues. It's been over a week and still not able to get the History channel to load.
