During the server installation, PaperCut will set up a read-only network share called PCClient. You will find the client software for Windows, Mac and Linux workstations located in this share. This approach ensures that you have the matching client version always available via this share. See also: Install the User Client on Windows in the manual.
The directory is automatically shared in read-only form as PCClient as part of the install process. Confirm that you can access the client software via the network by browsing to: \\server\PCClient.
Launch the pc-client.exe program by double-clicking the file. An icon is displayed in the task tray. Print a test page (for example, a web page). The advanced client popup is displayed allowing you to select the "test account" set up in the preceding section.
Backdoor:Win32/PcClient is a backdoor trojan family with several components including a key logger, backdoor, and a rootkit.
This backdoor arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
You can either right-click on the PaperCut icon to login, or send a print job to a PaperCut printer. Either one will prompt you for a login. PaperCut uses your CalArts Credentials, which is the same username and password you use for the Hub.
Trojan.PcClient is Malwarebytes’ detection name for a family of trojans that can provide the threat actor with several options like a backdoor, keylogger, and rootkit capabilities.
