  2. Your Thoughts on W3schools - The freeCodeCamp Forum

    forum.freecodecamp.org/t/your-thoughts-on-w3schools/196401

I use W3Schools just as a reference every once in a while. If you want to learn a subject, I’d recommend looking at academind.com. Of course freeCodeCamp is great for HTML, CSS, JS, D3, and the other ones it has. But when you want to dive a bit deeper & get into other topics, check out Academind.

  3. Is W3Schools.com any good? : r/learnprogramming - Reddit

Whether this is what W3Schools tried to do, I don't know, but I don't like it. The best source for web documentation is Mozilla Dev Network. This is almost always more complete and more authoritative than W3Schools. It’s a good free resource, yes. Also check out The Odin Project and Free Code Camp.

  4. W3Schools Criticisms: what's so wrong with it? : r/Frontend -...

W3Schools is much better than it was 10 years ago. My biggest problem with the site today is that the tutorials seem to be optimized for copy/paste rather than promoting secure, performant, idiomatic code. MDN is still the best resource for up-to-date, accurate, and detailed information on web technologies. 1.

That said though, as a former teacher who's now a self-taught web developer, there are 2 things I mainly struggle with: how they structure the content in some courses - like rounded corners being categorized as advanced CSS or comparison operators in JS are taught way after array methods like push () & forEach ().

  6. Why does so many people dislike W3Schools? : r/webdev - Reddit

Today, W3Schools has largely resolved these issues and addressed the majority of the undersigned developers' concerns. For many beginners, W3Schools has structured tutorials and playgrounds that offer a decent learning experience. Do keep in mind: a more complete education will certainly include MDN and other reputable resources.

  7. Are W3schools certificates credible? : r/learnprogramming -...

    www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/comments/2znk26/are_w3schools_certificates...

I believe the comment was directed at w3schools, the content of the post. Certificates can be useful, but it depends on where you are getting them from. Most people are more interested in how you work, hence the demonstration or portfolio of past work. Certifications should largely be viewed as a catalyst for learning or garnish to your portfolio.

  8. Does anyone else like W3Schools more than MDN, or at least for...

W3Schools actually puts effort into making things easy to understand and simple. W3Schools in the past used to have false info but they fixed it and nowadays it's a great resource for leaning new things. MDN is okay but really disorganized and not at all geared towards beginners.

  9. Thoughts on W3C Certifications - The freeCodeCamp Forum

    forum.freecodecamp.org/t/thoughts-on-w3c-certifications/145118

About W3Schools. This being said, I am not dissing W3schools - it can be a decent learning source for a beginner. Even www.w3fools.com, a previous source citing their problems has changed their opinion recently. If you really want their cert and have the money, go for it, but be aware of three things:

  10. Is w3schools.com the best resource for learning web development?

    www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/comments/ph2fb/is_w3schoolscom_the_best...

Personally I find w3schools information to be pretty shallow. I find I get much more complete information from mozdev and the W3C. The specs that the W3C puts out are actually fairly readable, and I learned HTML4 exclusively from the specs 10 years ago. So w3schools may have some things going for it, but depth is not one of them IMHO.
