According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 29.2 square miles (75.5 km 2), of which 21.3 square miles (55.1 km 2) is land and 7.9 square miles (20.4 km 2), or 27.00%, is water.
The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.00. In the township the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 29.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years.
