Yeah exactly and I'm quite sure the US army also has a paragraph to remove political extremists. There's no room for extreme political views and especially for the worst regime ever to have existed in an organization built on the foundation of protecting the weak, liberty and freedom.

The Army realizes that junior soldiers are still learning, like your buddy, so there’s not much you can do as a junior that will be permanent other than a criminal record. Helps mid grade leadership not feel so bad about “putting things on paper” either. It’s one of the few things the Army has gotten right.
TLDR Version : The Army is experiencing many crisis' such as the failure of the NCO Corps, Suicide, and the downsizing of the Army business, but rather then focus on things to help alleviate those problems AR 670-1 Reform were more important. Gotta make sure those soldiers aren't getting anymore tattoos and shave on the weekends.
Which is a shame, because the Army has better vacation benefits than any civilian job in the world. And if your buddy is on CQ when you come back from leave, you get essentially unlimited leave days! And on top of that you have payday activity and 4-day passes and any number of downtime breaks during the training week.
