The ACORN or ″Additive Congruential Random Number″ generators are a robust family of pseudorandom number generators (PRNGs) for sequences of uniformly distributed pseudo-random numbers, introduced in 1989 and still valid in 2019, thirty years later.
Fortuna is a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator (CS-PRNG) devised by Bruce Schneier and Niels Ferguson and published in 2003. It is named after Fortuna, the Roman goddess of chance. FreeBSD uses Fortuna for /dev/random and /dev/urandom is symbolically linked to it since FreeBSD 11. [1] Apple OSes have switched to Fortuna ...
A permanent magnet synchronous generator is a generator where the excitation field is provided by a permanent magnet instead of a coil. The term synchronous refers here to the fact that the rotor and magnetic field rotate with the same speed, because the magnetic field is generated through a shaft-mounted permanent magnet mechanism, and current is induced into the stationary armature.
Again, the output is half the size of the input. Beginning with a 2 b-bit input word, the top b−3 bits are used for a shift amount, which is applied to the next-most-significant 2 b−1 +2 b−3 −1 bits, and the least significant 2 b−1 bits of the result are output. The low 2 b−1 −2 b−3 −b+4 bits are discarded.
ISAAC (indirection, shift, accumulate, add, and count) is a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator and a stream cipher designed by Robert J. Jenkins Jr. in 1993. The reference implementation source code was dedicated to the public domain. "I developed (...) tests to break a generator, and I developed the generator to pass the tests.
The typical efficiency of TEGs is around 5–8%, although it can be higher. Older devices used bimetallic junctions and were bulky. More recent devices use highly doped semiconductors made from bismuth telluride (Bi 2 Te 3), lead telluride (PbTe), [10] calcium manganese oxide (Ca 2 Mn 3 O 8), [11] [12] or combinations thereof, [13] depending on application temperature.
VIN on a Chinese moped VIN on a 1996 Porsche 993 GT2 VIN visible in the windshield VIN recorded on a Chinese vehicle licence. A vehicle identification number (VIN; also called a chassis number or frame number) is a unique code, including a serial number, used by the automotive industry to identify individual motor vehicles, towed vehicles, motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, as defined by the ...
1, 11, 21, 1211, 111221, 312211, 13112221, 1113213211, 31131211131221, ... (sequence A005150 in the OEIS). To generate a member of the sequence from the previous member, read off the digits of the previous member, counting the number of digits in groups of the same digit. For example: 1 is read off as "one 1" or 11. 11 is read off as "two 1s ...
