    I remember my Staff Sergeant Promotion Board. The question I was asked was "Can POWs receive mail?" Confidently I said "No." The 1SG who asked me the question asked me "if I was sure." At that point I knew I was wrong, but I did not want to change my answer and show any sign of uncertainty. The CSM asked me to explain my reasoning behind my answer.

    Posted 7 y ago. Confidence is key. If you were recommended to attend the board your leaders already believe you deserve the promotion. Be confident when talking and answering questions to the board members. Be proud of your accomplishments. Your opening bio should reflect the career you have had so far.

    Know your chain of command & NCO support chain. For what it's worth, typically, promotion boards are not situation/scenario based but rather more straight forward questions. Whatever you do, don't go in there trying to BS somebody, it is painfully evident to the board members when you don't know or are unsure. Vote up. (7)
