Posted: 8/3/2020 11:04:20 PM EDT. Want to get another AK, looking at PSA GF3, AK 103, Arsenal SLR 107, or the Kalashnikov USA KR 103. Arsenal is most expensive, not sure if it is worth it. Not sure about PSA prices, but they are never in stock. Not sure when the KR 103.
Finished up my review of the Arsenal SAM5 milled AK and some pros/cons: Pros: -100% reliable to date. -fit/finish are solid. -everything is straight. -accuracy is most certainly acceptable. Cons: -can't get them new anymore. -some folks will have issues with the weight vs. stamped guns.
AR-15 » Build It Yourself. AR Sponsor: [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Just a headsup on Bear Creek Arsenal. Posted: 1/7/2019 6:53:28 PM EDT. I received a Bear Creek Arsenal complete upper from a very good friend for Christmas this year. I was blown away at his generosity. When it came i looked it over and didn't see anything that was out of place.
Arsenal SLR-95 Arsenal SLR-96 Of the two imported rifles, the SLR-95 was the more prevalent model. Two versions of it were actually imported; one with a muzzle brake pinned to the barrel, and one without. Both rifles originally sold new for about $300 - $350, but today (2011) sell new for about $800 - $900.
The M70 is nearly half the cost of a SAM7, and the ‘furniture ready’ stripped down M70 is half the cost, so you could buy two of those for the price of a SAM7. Both are heavy and sturdy, chrome lined barrels, great shooters, and there’s a large accessories aftermarket for both milled guns and stamped Zastava/Yugo guns.
Arsenal in Houston was a reputable manufacturer of stamped receivers back around 2006. They sold some complete guns, but mostly stripped receivers. They offered thick 1.5mm receivers and I think standard 1mm receivers as well. Looks like that gun was built using a nice AKM kit.
Arsenal of Bulgaria is the manufacturer of the select fire AR-M1. The AR-M1 is the current production Bulgarian AK-47 (utilizing a milled receiver). Arsenal USA's K-101, SSR-99, and the Arsenal Inc SA M-7, are based on this Arsenal of Bulgaria AR-M1 model. Here is a photo of an Arsenal of Bulgaria AR-M1 (chambered in 7.62x39):
I picked one up, and have shot ~1000 rounds. It has faired better than some others but still has more deformation than a cheap PSA. There are slews of complaints and concerns on the SAM5 guns beating themselves up pretty bad. The consensus is, install a KNS piston to adjust the atrocious over gassing with this model.
Production series (Cyrillic) code dropped to one letter. Serial number changed to 4 digits, then to 6 digits, and finally to 9 digits with leading zeros used as placeholders. (UNCONFIRMED) * = Limited or interrupted production years. Posted: 10/31/2012 4:34:55 AM EDT. [#6] Based upon this - my rifle was made in 2006.
So the SLR107FR became a no go. But now, with difference between the Sam7R-61 and the C39 over $600, I am having my doubts the added cost is justified for the likely better fit and finish of the Arsenal over the CIA. I have read about both and am familiar with their respective strengths and weaknesses.
