I have been searching for the location of my downloaded Spotify songs on my PC.. After considerable effort , and help from Spotify; I have located them! But I cannot open any of them – or even identify the songs that the files hold . They are all listed as “FILE files”. How do I open or play these files??

The songs saved on your device that are from external sources are called Local files. You can see all the information and the way to sync them depending on the device here. Keep in mind that the search engine is just for Spotify songs and will not show the Local Files as they're not added in the database.

This time, the playlists I added local files to _did_ download reliably to android every time. So it looks like there are issues with the Mac spotify client that are stopping android clients downloading local files, but the Linux client works fine (if you use the older version).
I need some help at the moment, I recently downloaded my Spotify after deleting it a while back with songs downloaded and now my Spotify will no longer let me download as it says the max device limit has been reached.
The trick is to disconnect the phone's bluetooth and close the apple watch spotify app. Then click the "download on apple watch" on the spotify iphone app. Then start the apple watch spotify app while the watch is connected to Wi-Fi but bluetooth not connected to the phone. The playlist download should start.
Just to clarify. keep in mind that you can download as many as 10,000 songs on each of up to 5 different devices. If you have access to your previous phones, you can remove your downloads by starting Spotify on the device which no longer needs the downloaded content and use the Remove all downloads button by going to Settings> Storage.
No matter which device I am logged into Spotify on, I can't download music. Last night I tried on my computer, turned Spotify off and back on, signed out and back in, uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify, and it still wouldn't download any new songs.
