Hurricane Ian in 2022 was probably the last "big" miss for NHC, the image below was on Sept. 25th and 3 days later it made landfall around Fort Myers (just north of FM but in southern part of state).
I wouldn’t say rapidly intensifying, but it does appear like Helene is steadily improving/intensifying. To a lesser degree because I know it’s not the best representation of whether a hurricane is actually goin thru RI.
