Thankfully found a 200 count lot of Norma 300wsm brass at under $1.20 each and bought it. But I went my first 4 years of reloading using only Hornady or Winchester brass. Which to my surprise both gave me excellent accuracy and pretty good SD/ES.
When the primer ignites, it allows a more uniform burn which in turn translates into more efficient use of energy. A 300 WSM can therefore achieve the same ballistics with less powder. Norma Brass is the gold-standard of cartridge cases.

Sourcing stuff for a 300 WSM build, and looking at brass. The best option would seem to be Norma or possibly Nosler, but at more than double the price over Winchester, and pretty hard to source, is it worth it?

Superior quality ensures a long life and many reloads. Norma cases are made of the best possible raw materials with the narrowest tolerances, and they deliver accuracy round after round. The case neck is annealed to become softer.
A custom 300 WSM has been on my long-term wish list. Having multiple quality brass options might move it up a notch or two. I did have a 6mm GT built in 2023 but I've got enough Alpha brass to burn out a couple of barrels.

Bought 300 pieces of 300 WSM Norma brass and took 110 to use on a new barrel. Ten pieces would not fire had set bullets on a hard jam of 25th to get them to fire. It weights 8 to 10 grains less than brass I bought in 2015.
