Instead, I've switched to Ivory Headwear - IVORY HEADWEAR - the founder of Ivory worked for Richardson but didn't like this policy. The caps from Ivory are just as good as Richardson - if not better. Also - Pacific Headwear was founded by another disgruntled ex-principle from Richardson.

Best Platen Size for Stahl's Maxx Hat Press - Richardson 112 Trucker Hats. Just purchased a used Stahl's Maxx hat press and looks like it has the standard 3.5"x6" platen. Seems to be fine for a non-structured hat, but I really need something for Richardson 112 (6 and 5 panels) hats as there is a lot of extra space with the standard platen.

In my experience running hats and helping others run hats on embroidery machines, minimizing the flagging or minimizing the gap between the sewing plate and the surface of the hat itself makes the biggest difference - if those are taken care of, the other common problems - such as thick seams, heavy-handed digitizing - often don't present problems.
