The toslink (optical cable) port on the TV funcitons as an input and an output, you should be able to configure your TV to output the sound from that port. Prior to cutting the cord, I had my DirecTV receiver tucked away in a bedroom, with the HDMI cable running from the receiver through the walls to my wall hung TV. Is there a way I can locate my OTA antenna near the bedroom window, plug the antenna coaxial cable into a converter box "input", plug the HDMI cable in the "output", and have the ...

  4. Coax cable from wall to Yamaha receiver with no coax input

    forums.tomsguide.com/threads/coax-cable-from-wall-to-yamaha-receiver-with-no...

The coax cable from the wall would be from your cable provider or over the air antenna and would connect directly to the TV not the receiver. Assuming the problem is getting audio from the TV to the receiver there are two options. 1. HDMI ARC - The HDMI out of the receiver connects to the HDMI ARC input on the TV.

    forums.tomsguide.com/threads/can-a-digital-converter-box-boost-antenna-signal...

    147. 103,240. Mar 30, 2019. #2. If your TV has a digital tuner but doesn't get enough signal a "converter box" is useless. You would want a better antenna and/or a signal booster. The sensitivity of the TV in the TV might not be very good. In that case an external ATSC tuner of better quality would get you more channels.

    forums.tomsguide.com/threads/hdtv-antenna-into-surround-sound-unit.132416

Ive been wanting to get a surround sound unit and was wondering if they make them with TV tuners built in. This way I could wire my HD antenna directly into the surround sound unit then out to the TV for display. My current option is to buy a new TV or a ATSC TV Tuner converter. Of course latter is cheaper. But id rather minimize the units and ...

  10. Receiving HD over the air. Do I need a tuner or an antenna?

    forums.tomsguide.com/threads/receiving-hd-over-the-air-do-i-need-a-tuner-or-an...

Apr 1, 2015. If it is a new TV it will have a digital tuner. Yes, you will need an antenna. The antenna WILL connect via coax. It is HD because it is an RF signal and those are carried efficiently by coax. www.antennaweb.org is the place to determine what kind of antenna you need and where to point it. You will want a compass to assist in ...
