The 1960 383 engines featured the same basic ram induction system as the Chrysler 300F's 413 RB engines (named Sonoramic Commando when sold in Plymouth form). The later 383 Magnum (starting in 1968) used the 440 Magnum heads, camshaft, and exhaust manifolds. This engine was advertised at 335 hp (250 kW; 340 PS).
Canadian market. For the Canadian market, the mid-priced big Dodge was marketed as the Polara 440 for 1965 and 1966. This inaccuracy is without question the "440" in Dart 440 is not the engine size, as the 440 cubic inch motor didn't arrive in cars until 1967. 440 however was a trim level. The 440 was available in 1969 in the GTS package however.
Chrysler developed its first experimental hemi engine for the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter aircraft. The XIV-2220 was an inverted V16 rated at 2,500 hp (1,860 kW). The P-47 was already in production with a Pratt & Whitney radial engine when the XIV-2220 flew successfully in trials in 1945 as a possible upgrade, but the war was winding down and it did not go into production.

The Max Wedge, formally the Maximum Performance Wedge, was an engine option produced by the Chrysler Corporation from 1962 to 1964, that was available exclusively in B Platform (intermediate) Dodges and Plymouths. The Max Wedge motor used the Chrysler RB Block, and was produced in 413 and 426 cubic-inch iterations.
Chrysler hoped to have the ball-stud in production sometime between 1971 and 1973. [4] In testing, it proved able to outperform the single four-barrel carburetted A134 440, and lagged behind the eight-barrel A102 426 Street Hemi. [7] About one year of development was put in before the project was stopped, in late 1969. [4]
