Hontoon Island State Park is a 1,650-acre island tucked away on the scenic St. Johns River, southwest of DeLand. It is surrounded by waterways with the St. Johns River to the north and east, the Hontoon Dead River to the west and Snake Creek to the south.

Hontoon Island State Park, located on the St. Johns River, is accessible only by boat or park ferry. Six one-room rustic cabins have bunk beds with vinyl-covered mattresses, a ceiling fan, overhead lighting and one electrical outlet.
Hours & Fees. Effective July 1, 2024: The campground, cabins and marina remain closed for overnight accommodations at Hontoon Island State Park. Ferry service will be provided on a limited basis Friday through Sunday.
