1. how does an upright double bass fail? a. the upright standup double bass must be very strong!! the cheaper upright double bass will have a 1/8 inch deck. this will cause the deck to "dimple" with time(6 months) (under the feet of the bridge). this will also cause the upright standup double bass to loose its sound transfer.

Details. These are custom made cases for the Aguilar DB210 & DB410 speaker cabs. These are MEDIUM-duty ATA, and will NOT stand up to serious road abuse. Folds flat, rated at 250 lbs, stands 13 inches tall. I use it with my RevSound 210 and it fits perfectly - very sturdy, and by getting my rig up off the floor I can hear better. Also puts the controls at a better height for adjustments on the fly as needed. Platform is 6 inches by 15 inches - should support most cabs.
The main difference is that cheaper/plainer woods, as well as perhaps cheaper hardware, are used. Guitar Center and Musician's Friend sell two Knilling basses, a laminate and a hybrid - both "student" basses. KC Strings's cheapest fully-carved bass (I have one) is marketed to students. Sometimes a cheaper bass will surprise you with its sound!

Oct 8, 2023. #1. I am interested in the Voigt and Geiger pancake basses from the 1930’s. They were evidently originally built for touring bassist's in swing bands to be easies to transport. Richard Davis apparently had one when he played and toured with Thad Jones and Mel Lewis. I played one at local shop years ago and almost bought it.
