The best air freshener is regularly cleaning the interior of your vehicle with something that smells like leather and gets rid of anything that would smell unpleasant. The best I’ve ever used is Zaino leather cleaner. Makes the inside of the car smell like brand new leather. I use griots and CG stuff from the store sometimes too.
Let the car air out one day windows down, made sure it was sunny and dry out. Went back at it for a second pass the next day, and followed up with some febreeze on the seats and carpets, let dry again. Went for a little drive to get the air moving and making sure it was all nice and dry.
Mahogany Teakwood is the best scent I've ever smelled inside a car. I bought a 6 pack of them on amazon for scent portals. They're amazing. I get compliments from everyone who sits in my car. Being a former car detailer, I can tell you this shit lasts too. I've had the same ones in my car for like 6 months now.
I'm sensitive to artificial air fresheners and can get headaches from an overpowering scent so the Chemical Guys air fresheners work great for my application. They have the 4 ounce bottles at my local Advanced Auto Parts for like 5 or 6 bucks.
If possible I’d reccomend to clean the leather, full interior and carpet of your car. Wont cost much, and the carpet cleaner can be rented from home depot or a store like it. Most car fresheners exist to mask the smell of odors by filling the car with artificial scents, a lot of which have been linked to cancers and reduced brain function.
I've tried various air fresheners including cards, clip-ons, cans, etc. They were all either too strong/overwhelming or they didn't put out enough smell. The only one I've been able to settle on is the "Giga" vent clip version of #3 (made by Eikosa from Japan) that allows you to insert small scent cylinders.

This is disappointing.. we are new to buying B&BW products (aside from the occasional fragrance sprays for me) and we recently purchased a candle and a wallflower and love how it makes our apartment smell amazing. I was really hoping for good reviews when I saw the car air fresheners online as I just got a new car.
Few years ago I bought california scents cherry and it was awesome. Then I was using different stuff and sometimes nothing. Today I bought california scents monterey vanilla and even opened on maximum I cant smell it. Only when You put it close to nose. I remember that I teally liked california scents air fresheners but now I am disappointed.
But I've noticed that some air fresheners don't work as well in certain vehicles. Like the California scent doesn't work well in my wifes SUV. At one point she had maybe 2-3 cans at once but after about 2 weeks you couldn't smell it anymore. On her SUV we had to use Meguiar's Whole Car Air Re-Fresher, that's the only thing that works.
