Lundquist was born in Duluth, Minnesota. [ 1] He graduated from Austin High School in Austin, Texas, [ 2] before attending Texas Lutheran University (formerly Texas Lutheran College), where he was one of the founders of the Omega Tau Fraternity in 1958 before graduating in 1962. [ 3] He is now a member of the Board of Regents for his alma mater.
