The first railway from Rajbari to Faridpur was built in 1899. Then, Bangladesh Railway closed the 34 km long Rajbari–Faridpur line on 15 March, 1998 because it was facing mismanagement and losses. Later, due to the demands of the people of Faridpur region, the authority started the new work of the line from 10 March, 2010.
In 2011, Rajbari city has 12,657 households and a population of 56,313. 9,996 (17.75%) were under 10 years of age. Rajbari has a sex ratio of 992 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 74.30%. [2]
