My Duolingo English Test experience - September 2023. Discussion. Hello everyone! I recently took the DET (Duolingo English Test) last week and scored 150/160. I wanted to share my experience here, as it might benefit others in the future. Before registering for the test, I had read previous experiences shared on Reddit as well.
My requirements: The uni I applied to needed, 125+ overall, 125+ in literacy and another subscore, and no subscore less than 115. My experience with DET: (1) I took the test a total of 4 times. 2 of them were uncertified because of my own fault. If the English in your post is anything to go by, you were unlucky not to get 160/160! Duolingo used to accept other forms of Id cards, but they now require a passport. First of all, this is completely my experience and yours might be different because exam is an adaptive one and you get harder questions if you answer most of the questions that you face-up correctly. To prepare, I took 4 mock tests (from test site) which estimately graded me as 125-145, 105-145, 105-140 and 100-140 if I remember correctly.

Having an app like Grammarly running is specifically forbidden by the test rules. Sorry to say, but if they have detected it then they'll almost certainly reject the test, and I don't think you'd have a case to appeal it. I made almost 4 errors in the interactive listening test.
