Splitters reduce signals substantially. You lose 50% in a 2 way splitter, 75% in a 4 way. With a weak low power station, small antenna with no preamp and then further signal reduction in a splitter you have a recipe for frustration. Get a Clearstream Juice Preamp, Kitz KT-500, or similar overload protected preamp.
Here is a very good point. There is a station in Altoona PA - WTAJ (1000 Kw), on the other side of the mountain 10 miles away is a transmitter for WJAC (5000 Kw). The people in Johnstown cannot watch WTAJ on UHF due to the fact that the mountain is taller then the transmitter antenna.

The SL5 LNB adds 110 (which not much if anything is on it) & 119 (which carries Spanish programing,various PI programing,& some local programing,depending on what satellite your locals are on) to the before mentioned satellites.

Yeah, the hopper 3 has 16 tuners, but you'd need joeys to access anything other than what the hopper is watching. So like you said, with only the hopper, all ten tv's would be watching the same thing at the same time. With just a few joeys though, you could back feed using rf modulators to the remaining tv's, which wouid give you more options.
