  2. Crazy Mormon beliefs : r/exmormon - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comments/g98jqi/crazy_mormon_beliefs

God needs Mormons to save the dead people. Waving a white hanky while chanting. Temple rituals. They will be gods one day and make their own worlds. Heaven is a caste system. Their "prophet" gets instructions directly from god. JS saw god and Jesus. Honestly, the basic fundamental beliefs are pretty crazy. 5.

Mormons fast so god will make it rain/snow, or if someone is sick to help them recover. It’s just a form of sacrifice, albeit much less… violent in nature, in order to receive blessings from god. And if God decides not to return the gift you are requesting, then the answer was “ no.”. And it’s “Gods will be done.”.

  4. What is the weirdest thing you've heard about Mormons? [Humor] -...

For the record, this post is meant to be humor not a debate. So let's here some of your stories of the more "far out there" theories and all have a good laugh. I grew up Mormon and a high school friend had heard that we have to consumate our marriage in front of witnesses in the temple during the wedding ceremony. LOL.

ADMIN MOD. Weirdest thing you were taught in the Mormon church? General Discussion. So I have come to realize that compared to many of you, what I was taught in the church was not nearly as crazy as what many of you were taught. Below are some of the stupider and craziest things that I have seen posted that they were taught: Dinosaur fossils ...

Sure, there are a few hard and fast rules, but if you talk to 100 different TBMs, you'll get 100 different answers to what a "good" Mormon is/should do/should be. It's a pretty good trick the profits have played to keep as many people paying tithing as possible.

Shaddio. •• Edited. Mormons believe that God has a physical body. He occupies physical space. Whether or not that’s a planet called “Kolob” is somewhat up for debate in Mormon circles. Another commenter posted a link to the Wikipedia article for Kolob, and I would recommend that.

Plate-o-meat is the go-to meal for nearly all Mormon families that I know. In my Mormon community, anything but a meat and potatoes restaurant has a poor chance of success. If Mormons really observed the word of wisdom, the trendy vegan stat-ups might have a fighting chance. 7. timhistorian.

  9. Mormons don’t believe Dinosaurs walked the earth. : r/exmormon -...

    www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comments/7n2tjq/mormons_dont_believe_dinosaurs...

I think a lot of Mormons just believe that dinosaurs lived during the first 1,000 years of the 6,000 years and co-existed on the planet with humans. I know my parents believe that. It works as long as you don't look closely or ever do any actual thinking about it. I have also had Mormons tell me that the 6,000 years thing isn't literal.

…if you 100% don’t believe in God… That’s a weird concept. I’m not convinced that any gods exist (read: atheist), but I’m not sure how to put a percentage on that. What percent “not an Olympic diver” are you, OP? Anyway…

I finally watched “Shiny Happy People” and was shocked at how many strange things Mormons have in common with the IBLP. With the exception that the Mormon church doesn’t teach corporal punishment to discipline children, I was mildly triggered by some similarities.
