  5. We're onto the 4th generation of iPad Mini, now! The 1st gen iPad Mini is functionally the same as the iPad 2 and almost as old. Apple discontinued iOS upgrades for iPad 2 and 1st gen Mini for the same reasons. They are both only 32 bit architectures, limited 512 MBs of RAM in both, and the cpus only has 2 cores. and no graphics co processors.

    Here are some things to try if you can't install the latest version of iOS: Download the update again: Go to Settings > General > [Device name] Storage. Find the iOS update in the list of apps. Tap the iOS update, then tap Delete Update. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and download the latest iOS update.

  11. I have an iPad running iOS 9.3.5. I want to upgrade to the latest version of iOS 14. When I go to Settings > General > Software Update, I get the msg "Checking for Update." Then I get another msg that says "iOS 9.3.5 Your software is up to date." But I do not want/care to update my current iOS 9.3.5 software because it is woefully out of date.
