    If a person had five minutes a day to catch up on politics, I would probably recommend Politico over any other source. I read it through the 2008 election and found it relatively neutral. I followed politics less closely this cycle, but popped in on politico once a day to check out the horserace.

    Politico lays out the talking points of the parties, but also tends to examine the true meaning and motive behind them from somewhat of an insider perspective. As others have pointed out, sometimes certain articles are written by political staffers, but I think this is a different bias than if one simply followed pundits like Limbaugh or Maddow.

    The politico model acknowledges that neither of the above is accurate with perfect consistency, but both are useful parts of a more holistic model of representation. A politico will sometimes act as a delegate, sometimes as a trustee; they will choose when to act as either depending on the specific issue under consideration.
